Full Sail University’s Creativity Marathon Contest is a video competition in which teams consisting of three to five high school students and a team sponsor compete against other teams to produce a short video (3 minutes or less) proposing solutions to help achieve one or more of the goals presented in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Creativity Marathon Rules

Registration and Deadlines:

  • Each team participating in the contest must consist of an adult team sponsor (21+ years of age) and 3-5 high school students. Sponsors are able to represent multiple teams, but students are limited to joining only one team.
  • Prior High School registration is mandatory for Brazil, Colombia, India, and Mexico. The deadline for high schools to register in these countries is March 4 at 11:59 PM ET (Winter Park, Florida time zone).
  • If you are a participant from Brazil, Colombia, India, or Mexico, please reference the terms and conditions for your specific country outlining sponsor participation requirements.
  • Prior to the start of the contest, all competing sponsors and team members will receive an invitation to join an official Full Sail University Creativity Marathon Facebook Group to follow along with contest announcements, updates, virtual webinars via Zoom, and the awards ceremony details. Sponsors and team members will also receive login information to the official Creativity Marathon platform. This platform will be used to submit projects, view on-demand lesson content, and request Recognition of Participation (certificates).
  • In order to qualify for prizes, team sponsors and students MUST register.

Event Schedule:

  • 3/4/23 - Opening Announcement (not mandatory)
  • 3/4/23 – 3/25/23 - On Demand Lessons: Sustainability, Pre-Production, Production, & Post-Production
  • 3/25/2023 - Video Submission Deadline (mandatory)
  • 4/1/2023 - Virtual Awards Ceremony

Video Criteria:

  • Each team will be required to submit a short video proposing solutions to help achieve one or more of the goals presented in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.   • Videos must not exceed three (3) minutes in length. Videos that are three minutes and one second (3:01) or more in duration will be disqualified and will not be judged. For purposes of clarity, any title screens or credits added to the video must fit within the maximum allotted three (3) minute timeframe. Limit one (1) entry per team.
  • All video entries submitted in connection with this contest must be in one of the following video formats: MP4 or MOV.
  • Any non-English commentary in the video entry must be accompanied by English subtitles. Entries requiring license or usage rights from any third party are not eligible.
  • Entry may not include any trademarked or copyrighted brand names/logos, other than those of Full Sail University.

Video Submission:

  • Videos must be submitted by the team sponsor via the official Full Sail University Creativity Marathon Facebook Group, as described in more detail below, by March 25, 2023, at 11:59 PM ET (Winter Park, Florida time zone). Please note that all videos must be posted using PUBLIC MODE and will be available for viewing by the general public.
  • To submit a video, the team sponsor must write on the header of the video post: “Check out our Creativity Marathon 2023 video! #FullSailUniversity #CreativityMarathon2023 #YourCountry” (i.e. #Brazil, #USA, etc.)
  • The team sponsor must also write in the comment section of the Facebook video post the following information: (i) the legal names of the high school students who participated on the team, (ii) the legal name of the adult team sponsor, and (iii) text of no more than one thousand (1,000) characters explaining which 2030 Agenda Sustainable Goals are addressed in the video and what problems the proposals presented in the video are intended to help solve.
  • Finally, to complete the submission process, sponsors must log in to the official Creativity Marathon platform and submit the following:
    - a. Link of the post with your video
    - b. Full names of the students that participated on the team.

Video Judging Rubric:

  • Entries will be judged by a panel of judges selected by Full Sail University, which may include Degree Program Instructors, High School Outreach leadership staff, Marketing leadership staff, and Industry Related members invited by team sponsors based on their work experience and/or expertise in sustainability, filmmaking, and/or script writing.
  • Entries will be judged on a one-hundred (100) point scale by the panel based on the following ten (10) criteria:
    – (i) incorporation of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (10%)
    – (ii) feasibility of proposed solutions to help achieve stated 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (10%)
    – (iii) originality and creativity of proposed solutions (10%)
    – (iv) quality of artistic expression (10%)
    – (v) quality and use of framing techniques (10%)
    – (vi) quality and use of footage audio (10%)
    – (vii) quality and use footage lighting (10%)
    – (viii) quality of video editing (10%)
    – (ix) quality of script writing (10%)
    – (x) quality and use of video footage (10%)
  • The judges will score each entry and will select the top six (6) entries based on the stated criteria. The entry receiving the highest score will be designated the potential winner. The next five (5) highest scoring entries will be designated as honorable mentions.

Prizes and Awards:

  • Award winners will be announced live during the Virtual Awards Ceremony on April 1, 2023
  • Regional Honorable Mentions Prizes:
    – Regional Creativity Marathon 2023 Trophy (one (1) per team)
  • Regional First Place Prizes:
    – Regional Creativity Marathon 2023 Trophy (one (1) per team)
    – Team sponsor and each high school student from the winning team will receive a $100 gift card.
    – High school students from the winning team will receive a week-long Full Sail Labs Virtual Experience.
  • Global First Place Prizes:
    – Global Creativity Marathon 2023 Trophy (one (1) per team)
    – Team sponsor and each high school student from the winning team will receive a GoPro Hero11 Black Bundle* which includes: GoPro Hero11 Black, Magnetic Swivel Clip, Spare Battery, Floating Hand Grip, 32GB SD Card, and Camera Case *or similar of equal value according to local availability.

Recognition of Participation (Certificates of Participation in the Creativity Marathon 2023):

  • Students that watch the virtual on-demand lessons and submit a project will be able to receive a Student Recognition of Participation (Certificate of Participation). This document will be available for download on the official Creativity Marathon platform for each student. To gain access to this document, each student must: (i) access the platform, (ii) watch each of the on-demand lessons available March 4 – March 25, (iii) post the link of their Facebook video submission.
  • Sponsors that submit a project will be able to receive a Sponsor Recognition of Participation (Certificate of Participation). This document will be available for download on the official Creativity Marathon platform. To gain access to this document, sponsors must: (i) access the platform, (ii) submit at least one (1) project.
